So Far, So Good
I have been in Australia for just over two weeks now, and it's only getting better. I have been working (volunteering) at Friends of the Koala rescue center for almost every day. I'm glad they let me spend so much of my free time there, as I have a lot of it. In the last week, they have let me take on more responsibility, and allow me to experience more things. Last Thursday, I had the opportunity to go on a koala rescue, which was truly amazing. I have also had a friend at the rescue center, D'Artangan. He worried me for the past couple of days as he wasn't eating, and he has been loosing weight. However, he started eating the fresh leaf yesterday as soon as I brought it in.
Last Friday, the international students were taken to the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, where I got to meet a nice kangaroo who got a little too excited to see me. I know that it proves animals really do like me. I went right in to the enclosure, and the kangaroo came right to me. After trying to take a picture, the kangaroo turned and kissed me, then stuck his tongue in my mouth. Eck. Even though it was disgusting, I loved getting to see a kangaroo for the first time.
Each weekend, we have gone to Byron Bay which is the most beautiful beach. I also found out the Hemsworth brothers live in Byron! Even though I didn't get to see Chris Hemsworth, some of the other international students did.
I start classes in two days, so I'll finally have things to do. Other than that, I have a great idea for a new blog that I hope to be launching next week. I'll let everyone know!
